Would you go barefaced in front of your BF?Posted on: October 17, 2013 15:14:50
In the early stages of any relationship, it is understandable that both men and women want to look their best in order to give off the best possible impression to their new partner.
Females in particular can often feel under pressure about their appearance, with many going out of their way to ensure their hair, make-up and clothes are sexy at all times.
But how long does this phase last in a romance? Well, according to new research, it is precisely four weeks until girls feel confident enough to go barefaced in front of their boyfriend.
Research carried out by Superdrug revealed six in ten women want to ensure their partner likes them enough before ditching the cosmetics and going au naturel.
What's more, analysts - who questioned 2,000 single women - found that some ladies feel far less attractive, less confident and more vulnerable without a bit of mascara, foundation and lippy.
Some women, however, seem to be taking their obsession with their looks a little bit too far. Many women nip to the bathroom in the middle of the night to touch up their make-up, while others get up early to ensure their new boyfriend does not see them looking their worst.
In fact, nine in ten women admitted wanting their beau to think they are gorgeous and perfectly presented at all times. For this reason, they feel under pressure to make sure their make-up is flawless for the first few dates.
Commenting on the findings, Superdrug spokeswoman Sarah Sharp said: "It does take a while for women to feel comfortable with a new partner and make-up can act as a shield for many females.
"The research indicates that for many women wearing make-up isn’t just a way of looking attractive, it’s much more than that, it’s a way to be confident and project an image."
