Women 'sleep in makeup to impress partner'

Posted on: July 3, 2013 14:35:22

Women Women of all ages may be all too familiar with the age-old warning of the perils of going to bed with a face full of makeup, but the temptation of crawling between the sheets after a night on the town is often too strong.

However, it seems some image-conscious females are going to bed having just touched up their eyeliner and foundation in a bid to ensure they are looking their best for their partner in the morning.

A significant number of women deliberately keep their makeup on while in the land of nod - including false eyelashes, in some cases - to give the impression they are constantly looking in fine form.

Research from Ergoflex, which collated responses from 1,500 British ladies, found insecurities are forcing some females to wear makeup to bed with their other half - with some even lying to their boyfriend about it.

Some 95 per cent of those who did this admitted they kept it from their partner, while half confessed they wrongly informed their boyfriend their makeup had been removed, when in fact it had not, reports the Daily Mail.

Self-conscious ladies cited the main reason for doing this was to look as good as possible in the morning, with many claiming they felt their romantic partner looked just as good in the early hours as when they went to bed.

Commenting on the findings, Jed MacEwan from Ergoflex said analysts were taken by surprise by the study's findings, adding that many women admitted their sleep had been affected by wearing makeup in bed.

He added: "We're all about a quality night's sleep here, and as you'd expect, we found that the 'vanity' aspect trumping that of overall health, both of your skin and sleep, well, quite astounding.

"Chances are, men won’t notice a blind bit of difference - I can't speak for all of us, but I'm certain the large majority just aren't that observant early morning!"
