Women 'prefer spending day off with friends'Posted on: October 10, 2013 11:40:35
Let's face it, as a nation, we are tirelessly overworked and spend each lunch time and some evenings dreaming of enjoying even a couple of days free time where we can do whatever we please.
And although many people who are in a relationship dream of spending those sought-after days with their other half, it seems most women would rather have fun with their closest girlfriend.
According to a new study from Paddy Power Bingo. four in ten females would chose the company of their chums than their significant other, as they have similar ideas about what creates the perfect day off.
Surprisingly, a particularly unromantic 46 per cent of ladies said members of the same sex were much better company than men, with most preferring to enjoy quality time with their pals over their boyfriend or husband.
What's more, some 24 per cent of respondents said they would rather spend their free time alone.
Researchers, who questioned 2,000 women, found that the average female has just one hour and 14 minutes to herself every week, which makes it hardly surprising that they end up valuing their time alone.
In addition, the study found that nearly one in six women purposely spend time with their friends to avoid spending it with their other half, citing frequent arguments and having nothing in common among the main reasons for this.
Commenting on the findings, a spokeswoman for Paddy Power Bingo said mums are usually at the bottom of the pecking order when it comes to taking control of the house, so it is important that they take advantage of a bit of "me time".
The official said: "The research found that although women love their other half they do love time with their girlfriends to have a laugh.
”Likewise, having the house to themselves is bliss for women with busy families.”
