Why do women prefer bad boys?

Posted on: August 15, 2013 10:47:35

Why do women prefer bad boys? There is an age old stereotype that single women much prefer getting romantically involved with bad boys who adopt a "treat them mean, keep them keen" attitude to relationships.

And while this may be the case, looking out for a guy who is indifferent to your companionship and does not give you the time of day can often leave you feeling rejected and in need of some good old TLC.

But it is not just us mere mortals who like the idea of heading out on the town with a cool, calm and collected man, as many celebrities also favour this type of male.

Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Kate Moss are just three examples of high profile beauties who have been in a relationship with a guy who may not have been well-suited to their needs.

According to relationship expert Tracey Cox, women have been brainwashed for many years regarding the so-called appeal of a bad boy. Writing in the Daily Mail, Ms Cox said that the drama of a potentially-destructive relationship is usually seen as exciting by many singles.

She added: "There’s the ‘hot’ make-up sex after the fights, the heady rebellion of going for someone who only thinks about now, doesn’t care about the future.

"When you’re 18 and tentatively exploring life and sex and relationships, this can be appealing."

But what about women over a certain age? Is there really room in your already busy life for a man who can never turn up on time, is volatile and unpredictable and who you quite frankly cannot trust?

Well Ms Cox seems to think not. The expert explained that the stereotype of "nice equals weak" is false - meaning that those who treat people fairly and with respect are not necessarily less assertive or competitive than "difficult" people.

So if you're browsing online dating websites for a new partner, why not concentrate on finding a nice guy who treats you like a princess? That way, you won't be left disappointed.ADNFCR-2828-ID-801625319-ADNFCR
