What makes women happy?Posted on: January 21, 2013 14:52:26
When it comes to understanding exactly what women want, men might be reassured to know that it isn't extravagant gifts and being wined and dined that makes them happiest.
In fact, it seems that the best things in life are free for the fairer sex, after a poll aiming to discover what makes them feel good revealed that most would love nothing more than a cuddle, a compliment and to tuck into some cheese.
Speaking to 2,000 females, Sainsbury's compiled a list of the top 50 things that put a smile on their face.
To many men's delight, there were no designer handbags, diamonds or unreasonable expectations of a boyfriend present in the list.
Instead, the top five all consisted of things that don't cost a penny, with a spontaneous cuddle by a partner topping the survey.
Also present in the top five was putting on comfortable underwear, donning sexy lingerie and someone commenting on their weight loss.
The list proved that sometimes it is the smaller things in life that have the biggest impact, with women admitting getting dressed up for a night out, people noticing when they had their hair done and indulging in some new perfume or makeup from time to time made them feel warm inside.
"With the average female stating she feels good in what she is wearing for just three days a week, perhaps a few more surprise compliments, alongside tucking into a good camembert and a good book could brighten the winter months no end," a spokesman from Sainsbury's said.
So, it seems that cash-strapped single men can still win over their date, simply by showering her with compliments rather than gifts. Although, a nice bunch of flowers every now and again doesn't do any harm.
Last month, a study by Johnson Cleaners identified Prince William as the man most women perceive to be the perfect gent.
Speaking to 1,000 people, the research revealed that almost nine out of ten women believe it is important that a man acts like a true gent and has caring and protective qualities.
