What can we learn from celebrity couples?

Posted on: February 28, 2013 16:16:07

What can we learn from celebrity couples?Celebrity relationships are so heavily scrutinised in the media that it is no wonder that a fresh batch of famous faces each week announce they are no longer together.

While it is highly unlikely us mere mortals will ever open up a tabloid newspaper to find relationship gurus and body language experts commenting on how in love we are with our new partner, there are still plenty of other factors that we can be up against when it comes to keeping a private life just that.

One of the biggest issues UK singles face when in a relationship is the impact social media can have.

While on the one hand it is a great platform to show off your new sweetheart - posting soppy statuses, amorous pictures and of course the obligatory 'in a relationship' update on Facebook - it can sometimes do more harm than good.

TV presenter and mother of two Melanie Sykes showed us all last year that there is a time and a place for public displays of affection after she sent a stream of rude innuendos to her new beau - one of which told the whole world she had the "giddiest knickers" of her life.

Meanwhile, Ashley Cole soon learnt how quickly 'private' images and messages can go viral, as did Jason Manford, who put his marriage at risk after sending X-rated messages over Twitter.

Similarly, when it comes to the likes of Twitter and Facebook, keeping your dignity if things don't work out between you can be tricky, particularly when emotions are running high.

Rob Kardashian and Rita Ora proved exactly how challenging it is when they broke up in 2012.

The brother of Kim Kardashian tweeted at the time: "How can a woman who is so busy trying to start her own career have time to be with so many dudes while in a relationship?!", to which the How We Do singer hit back by criticising his manhood and claimed she was forced to "go get it somewhere else".

So, although any troubles you face when dating might not result in a kiss and tell on the cover of a glossy magazine, it doesn't necessarily mean you aren't exempt from drama of a different kind if you're not careful.
