Unusual ways of improving your online dating profile

Posted on: April 17, 2013 16:01:10

Unusual ways of improving your online dating profileUK singles who haven't had any luck yet in the search for love online might want to consider some unique ways of boosting their dating profile.

Put on a pic of your pooch

According to findings in a recent eHarmony study, singletons who have a snap with their pet pooch are more likely to be successful when dating online. The results found that dog lovers are viewed as kind, sociable, active and generally happier than those without a pet, while as many as 70 per cent of respondents said cat owners are caring and friendly individuals, and were likely to have a good sense of humour.

Relationship advice expert Jenni Trent Hughes said dog owners are perceived to have key attributes that are attractive to both sexes.

"You have to be committed, caring and responsible to have a pet and these are the core values and transferable skills that help make for a successful, long lasting relationship," she added.

Wear red

As we all know, a profile picture can reveal a lot, but have you ever considered what colour you are wearing and how that could influence potential dates?

Well, according to a professor from New York University, donning a red top could generate more interest from blokes, compared to those wearing any other hue.

Adam Alter examined a number of different studies and discovered that attractive women are more likely to be asked out on a date if they are wearing a red item of clothing.

For blokes, picking a snap wearing a pastel shade could prove to be beneficial, with a study last year suggesting pinks and purples could attract more compliments.

Involve your friends

If you are struggling to find the right words to describe yourself, asking some pals to put together a few lines could be a unique way of letting people know a little more about the kind of person you are.

Speaking to US Metro recently, Evan Marc Katz, dating coach and founder of eCyrano said seeking advice beforehand can ensure you get the most out of online dating.

"It's like the gym," he suggested. "You don't lose weight by signing up for the gym. That's why people hire personal trainers - to show them how to use the equipment."
