Singles 'fit into five categories'Posted on: June 10, 2013 14:42:31
Lonely hearts who have been unlucky in love may wonder why they are unable to settle down with their romantic partners over the years, but one psychologist could have the answer.
According to relationship expert David Holmes, singles can be split into five categories based on their own dating characteristics, some of which could be holding them back when it comes to finding their ideal boyfriend or girlfriend.
Mr Holmes, who carried out the analysis for MySingleFriend.com, said people without partners can fit into the following groups: picky pandas, sharks, man's best friend, worker bees and night owls.
He explained that those individuals likened to the black and white bear are similar to Hollywood actor George Clooney, in that they need encouragement to step out of their comfort zone.
Sharks, like Made In Chelsea's Spencer Matthews, believe they are "too cool" to settle down and often struggle to find a romantic partner who they are happy with.
On the other hand, the worker bee - which was compared to One Direction's Harry Styles - is usually too busy to strike up a romance with a sexy stranger.
Man's best friend - like British funnyman Russell Brand - is compared to an excitable puppy who loves attention and is very loyal to their friendship group, which can make it difficult to make time for The One.
Finally, the night owl category - which may include Cara Delevingne - is most common among students who love to party so much that there is no time for them to find a romantic interest.
Commenting on the research, Mr Holmes said: "Although most people have a complex collection of personality traits, there are often strong features that could provide signposts as to the direction their dating personalities are taking.
"Everyone will have a friend or someone they know - maybe even themselves - that they feel fits one of the profiles."
If you're struggling to find someone like you, why not try online dating?
