Saturday night most popular time to say 'I love you'Posted on: April 25, 2013 11:26:25
Romance might not be dead, but it certainly is as regular as clockwork, according to a survey.
New research found that most couples even have a specific time of day when they whisper sweet nothings.
Saturday night at 10pm is the most popular time for people to say 'I love you', suggesting that after a long hard week at work, our emotions are more likely to come out during the weekend.
On average, couples will tell their other half they love them nine times a week, although some admit they say it when they don't mean it.
However, shockingly, as many as one in ten couples in Britain never utter those three important words, instead claiming they prefer to show their love physically.
After speaking to 2,000 Brits, Sky Living suggested that cooking, being affectionate and making significant others laugh is the preferred way of sharing feelings for some people
Antonia Hurford-Jones, director of the television company which conducted the research to launch the It's Love Actually show, said the results are reassuring, proving that people do still have time to tell their partner how they feel.
"And while four in ten don't tend to profess their love for each other as often as they did before they started living together, this is only because the words don't seem as genuine if repeated over and over again," she added.
"The old saying – actions speak louder than words – can be deemed true in many relationships and this proves that words are meaningless unless they are backed up by feeling, emotion and demonstration."
Some of the most popular reasons for saying 'I love you' were found to be out of habit, with many saying it before falling asleep or after making love.
Also in the top five list was repeating it back after a partner had said it or because of being in a good mood.
A recent global survey suggested that men are more romantic than women, with more males admitting to falling in love at first sight than their female counterparts.
