This is according to Julie Spira, a cyber-dating expert based in Los Angeles, who encouraged users to keep information about themselves short and sweet.

The San Jose Mercury News quotes her as telling singletons not to brag in their profiles and not to go on for too long.

Instead, the data should be brief and snappy, but still include enough information to reveal a little about the author's personality.

Another top tip is to stay away from cliched phrases as these can be misinterpreted to mean something else.

"For instance, you might think writing that you enjoy the finer things in life sounds good. But it can come across as high maintenance," the news provider continues.
