Men 'underestimate their bedroom ability'

Posted on: July 18, 2013 13:50:39

Men When it comes to showing off their skills in the bedroom, common stereotype would have it that men love to big up their ability to their pals on a night out, but very often leave their lady friend feeling rather unsatisfied.

However, this may not be entirely true, as new research has suggested the majority of males actually underestimate their prowess between the sheets - with women actually voting them higher than they rate themselves.

A study carried out by live chat room website Cam4 (NSFW) revealed that girls actually believe the average guy scores seven out of ten in bed, but blokes only rate themselves as a six.

Researchers, who questioned 2,000 adults, found the majority of females are so happy with their current partner's bedroom techniques that they rate him higher than their ex-boyfriend, who only scored five out of ten.

Despite rating their partner's sexual prowess, only a fifth of Britons believe the sex in their current relationship is perfect. What's more, the average respondent has had sex just three times in the past four weeks.

Worryingly, although men have higher sex drives than their female counterparts, one in ten admitted that they sometimes avoided getting between the sheets with their girlfriend because they are always left unsatisfied.

In fact, some respondents used the words "stagnant", "unadventurous" and "stuck in a rut" when asked to describe their current sex life - with lack of confidence playing a key role in stopping people being a little more risque in the bedroom.

Commenting on the findings, Ben Dewhurst - spokesman for Cam4 - said: "“Even the most loving of couples can get bored of the same routine, del comma and of having relations in the same place and position all the time.

“But this research is reassuring for many, as it shows that even if couples aren’t having the wild and adventurous sex they had in the first few months of being together, they still rate their partners highly."
