Men under the influence are leaving women underwhelmedPosted on: December 21, 2012 15:47:28
Having a couple of drinks can often help to relax those pre-date nerves, but could be reducing the chances of you finding a relationship.
New research has found that men believe that they are not only funnier after a pint or two, but are also more attractive and better in bed than when they are sober.
However, what men believe they are like after drinking can be vastly different to the views of women, according to Cancer Research UK.
Speaking to 4,000 adults, the charity found that one in three men thought they were better looking after drinking alcohol, whereas only 13 per cent of women said they felt they were prettier.
Males also believed they stood a better chance of pulling when tipsy and 43 per cent admitted they thought their sense of humour was at its peak when drunk.
It appears that you might not be right though men, as women are less than impressed with guys who are under the influence, with 42 per cent of females in the study revealing that they hated their partner being drunk.
Not only that, but almost a third claimed being boozy didn't make the other sex any funnier and forty per cent even said they thought their partner was less attractive.
Alcohol can affect your decision-making, so avoiding drinking too much – or drinking at all – on a first date can help guarantee that you won't say or do anything you later regret and importantly, will allow you to find out with a clear head whether you think the romance is likely to go any further.
Cancer Research's study was carried out to raise awareness of its new Dryathlon campaign, which is encouraging people to test their willpower and avoid alcohol for a month in January.
So, instead of heading to the pub or for a meal next month, why not arrange to meet at a coffee shop instead and get to know each other properly, without the beer goggles.
