Men do not grow up until they are 43, study findsPosted on: June 11, 2013 12:17:53
Single ladies who are looking for the man of their dreams may have had their share of dating disasters over the years, with many women having gone out with a man who acts much younger than his age.
Although it is a common occurrence for blokes to mature at a much slower pace than members of the fairer sex, females could be shocked to hear that they could be waiting rather a long time to be on the same wavelength as a mature romantic partner.
According to a new study from Nickelodeon UK, men finally grow up at the age of 43 - an alarming 11 years after their womanly counterparts.
Researchers, who questioned 2,000 males and females across the country, found the majority of respondents think signs of male maturity do not present themselves until his 40th birthday.
Some eight in ten ladies believe that blokes never stop being childish, highlighting burping, eating fast food in the early hours, playing video games and breaking wind as the most annoying characteristics possessed by their partner.
On the other hand, respondents argued that women reach maturity at the age of 32 - so it is not surprising ladies often feel like the most grown up in their romantic endeavours.
Around a quarter of females believe they are forced to make all the important decisions in their relationship, while an equal number wish their boyfriend would discuss his feelings more often.
And although it could all be laughs and jokes for fun-loving men, three in ten women said they had ended a relationship because they lost patience with the man being too immature.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, ladies said one of the biggest bugbears in a relationship was having to take on a maternal role to look after their partner - something that could encourage blokes to adopt a more mature approach to dating in the long term.
