Lovesick man offers $1,500 for someone to find him a girlfriend

Posted on: September 27, 2013 16:11:45

Lovesick man offers $1,500 for someone to find him a girlfriendA man from the US has created his own website to try and get a girlfriend - and has offered a $1,500 (£931) "finders fee" to anyone who helps him on his way.

The aptly-named Romeo Rose from Austin, Texas, said a four-year dry spell convinced him to set up the page, Sleepless in Austin.

On it, he sets out his very specific requirements on what he expects of a partner - starting with how they should look.

For a start, they need to be thin, white, have long - preferably red - hair, a conservative sense of style, have no tattoos and a non-sarcastic sense of humour. Oh, and they need to weigh under 130lbs.

Fit the bill? Lucky you. Romeo has even offered to pay an extra $1,000 if the blossoming relationship eventually turns to marriage. He said he's offering the bonus cash to motivate people to provide him with "a woman of great quality".

The 39-year-old - perhaps surprisingly - has been inundated with responses, apparently - and as a result, has had to even create an FAQ section on his website in order to explain to people how serious he is about his proposal.

Under the question of whether or not the "finder" can trust him to pay them, Romeo writes that he is willing to go to a courthouse to draw up a legally binding contract if necessary - adding that he is a man of his word.

However, it's when he starts to answer the question of what he actually classes as a girlfriend when things really start to get into detail.

"Of course, sex does have to happen for it to be considered a real girlfriend/boyfriend relationship and it has to happen on more than just two or three separate occasions," he states.

Romeo says he believes it will take "at least two months to four months" to develop a real relationship - at which point, if he's happy, he'll pay up.

If, after that, the relationship falters and Romeo and his new squeeze go their separate ways, he generously says the finder still gets to keep the money.
