Love over 50 easier when retired?

Love over 50 may become an increasingly pleasurable experience when people retire, as one study has revealed older partners enjoy each others' company more once they leave their jobs.

Compiled by financial service provider Engage Mutual Assurance, the study found six in ten people in this demographic say they have an abundance of energy, while 65 per cent claim their health has improved.

Just under one-third admitted their relationship had benefited from reaching retirement age, with four out of five claiming arguments were fewer.

Over fifties dating enthusiasts may also be interested to hear that more than half of pensioners feel their sex lives improved after they gave up work.

Job stress was listed as a reason for just under half of strained relationships, while over one-third said they now make more time for their partners upon retirement.

Despite these statistics, 51 per cent of Britons polled in a Friends Provident survey intend to stay on in work after the default retirement age so as to stay active.
