Love 'one of life's bare necessities'

Posted on: June 12, 2013 16:06:53

Love Despite voicing differing opinions about a range of issues - whether romantic or not - both men and women would argue that love is among life's bare necessities.

This is according to the findings of a new study carried out to mark the upcoming Blu-ray release of Disney's The Jungle Book, which revealed telling a boyfriend or girlfriend how you feel is one of the most important things to do on a daily basis.

Researchers, who questioned 2,000 adults, found that physical affection is even more important than love for the majority of people - with a cuddle ranked third on the list of life's bare necessities.

Rather unromantically, internet connection and television were voted the two main needs for people in the modern age, while a daily shower and a cup of tea were also noted.

A trustworthy best friend with whom you can enjoy a gossip and a private chat was ranked fourth on the list, but it seems both men and women value technology more than other traditional aspects of life.

For women, chocolate, a close pal, a cuppa and the central heating were the most valuable essentials in life, but football, fry-ups, sausages and beer were top of the list for simple-minded blokes.

However, it seems many people realise that gadgets and gizmos can be replaced if they break, unlike some relationships - with the majority of respondents admitting they value their handheld devices a little too much.

Those people who are in a relationship are advised to spend some quality time with their partner without any distractions from their smartphones or tablets, as too much time on social media has previously been found to cause friction in romances.

A study carried out by US scientists revealed that people who browse Facebook excessively are at risk of experiencing conflict with their other half as a result of spending too much time on the website.
