Let friends 'compose online dating profile'

People trying out online dating may want to consider letting their friends compose their profile description for them after one writer described doing just that.

Here is the City's resident singleton described signing up to a dating website and the difficulty she had in deciding what to write about herself.

From looking at what other people had chosen to note down about themselves she concluded: "It seems the trick is to ensure you don't scare them off and at the same time, not to create any unrealistic expectations."

However, rather than make up her own profile, Single in the City asked her closest friends to do the honours.

The end result was a short paragraph containing information about the dating hopeful's interests, personality and endearing quirks.
