Ladies 'admire new style icons as they age'

Posted on: June 10, 2013 11:32:11

Ladies Blokes who are heading out on a first date with the woman of their dreams could find their new partner dresses like Cheryl Cole if she is in her 20s, but looks more like Jennifer Aniston if she is approaching 40.

This is according to findings from a new study by high-end clothing brand CC, which found ladies admire the styles of different celebrity women as they get older.

Researchers found that the average 20-something girl looks to former Girls Aloud songstress Cole for inspiration on how to dress, while those in their 40s favour the sophisticated and sexy look of Aniston.

Kate Middleton was found to be the most-copied icon in her 30s and Lorraine Kelly came out on top for those in their 50s.

However, it seems ladies of all ages can agree on the undeniable beauty and effortless chic of some famous faces, with Audrey Hepburn regarded as the overall style icon for females - closely followed by Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly.

Analysts noted that women are more likely to be inspired by celebrities of a similar age when planning their outfits, with those in their 30s also looking to Holly Willoughby, Kelly Brook and Victoria Beckham for inspiration.

A spokeswoman for CC said: "Whether you are in your twenties, thirties or forties there are some women in this poll who have undisputed style.

"The Duchess of Cambridge for example has an elegant style that women both young and old can appreciate.

"It's encouraging to younger women that you don’t necessarily have to bare all to look appealing."

Such is the power of celebrity in this day and age, that 15 per cent of women said they often dress like their favourite celebrity, while more than a quarter have tried to find out where a certain garment was from after they had seen it on TV.
