Kiss and makeup: Women avoid being seen au-naturel

Posted on: March 13, 2013 15:30:51

Kiss and makeup: Women avoid being seen au-naturelMost women avoid showing their new partner what they look like without makeup for as long as a month, a new study has claimed.

Despite love supposedly being blind, and people falling for you 'warts and all', it appears that many females aren't completely convinced that their date will still fancy them when going au-naturel.

According to the results by a semi-permanent cosmetics company, over a third of women have secretly got out of bed in the morning to reapply their makeup before their man wakes up.

When asked why they wouldn't want their boyfriend to catch them without any slap on, most respondents said they don't look as attractive without it, while 28 per cent admitted they feel less confident when bare-faced.

Worryingly, two per cent went as far as to believe that going makeup-free could result in them being dumped.

Although you might want to keep the romance alive by looking your best, believing makeup – or lack of it – could determine your relationship is unlikely to lead to a long-term love.

Almost one in five ladies said they wait two months before ditching the makeup when dating, while eight per cent will keep up the facade of looking flawless for a whole year. Three per cent even claim they never let their other half see them with no cosmetics on at all.

Debra Robson, whose company conducted the poll, agreed that makeup can make lots of women feel sexier and more confident.

"I love the idea of us girls waking up early to secretly put on makeup to keep up appearances from the previous night," she said. "We all want to look our best in the early throws of romance and women feel they look a lot better and more desirable with makeup."

Last year, a study by Superdrug also found that women only felt at their best when pampered and preened.

The research, which spoke to 1,000 women, revealed people were happiest when they had a post-holiday tan, perfectly applied makeup and a discreet splash of perfume.
