Kelis divorce from hip hop partner final

R'n'B star Kelis has had her divorce from hip-hop star Nas finalised by a judge in Los Angeles, but the pair still face a custody battle over their young son.

They got married in July 2005 after dating each other for two years, however, the 29-year-old filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences while seven months pregnant with their baby.

Nas has been ordered by the court to provide $10,000 (£6,900) a month in child support payments, but the artist claimed he could not afford it.

Although the breakdown of their relationship is unknown, a Twitter post previously written by the Milkshake singer appeared to hit out at unfaithful men and may have been an indirect swipe at him.

In a statement last month, Nas said all he wanted to do is make some music and raise his child.
