Christian singles may be inspired to try online dating after hearing how a pair of newlyweds met through a Jewish website.

Jessica Exelbert and Justin Rubin embarked on a relationship after meeting through a Jewish dating portal, the Washington Post reports.

The couple began messaging each other after their initial online chat was followed up by a chance run-in at a party.

They continued to talk over the internet as they had first done two years previously, when Mr Rubin had decided not to ask her on a date as they lived too far away.

However, after a succession of long emails and a 90-minute phone call, the pair discovered they shared a love of Tom Stoppard dramas and came from families with shared values.
