How wearing red can affect your love lifePosted on: March 21, 2013 15:03:35
UK singles will already be aware how much influence a profile picture can have when online dating.
Get it right and you will capture the attention of a potential new partner, but get it wrong and you could end up giving people the wrong impression, putting them off or leaving them underwhelmed.
However, now it has been claimed that even the colour that you wear on your snap can determine whether or not you're likely to be successful in love.
According to a professor, women who wear red hues on their profile shots are likely to receive more messages and dates than those wearing any other colour.
Adam Alter, from NYU examined a number of different studies for his book Drunk Tank Pink to examine different elements that can determine how people think, feel and behave.
Amazingly, the findings showed that red generated more positive responses in almost every case.
For example, researchers from the University of Rochester in New York claimed that attractive women are more likely to be asked out on a date and are likely to have more money spent on them if they are wearing red.
Meanwhile, a French survey indicated that the number of messages women received when their picture had a red t-shirt rather than other shades such as black, white, blue, yellow and green, increased, the MailOnline reports.
"The message here couldn't be simpler," Mr Alter said. "If you're trying to attract a member of the opposite sex, red dresses and red shirts give you an ever-so-slight romantic advantage."
However, men might want to consider donning a pink or lilac shirt if they're looking to boost their chances of finding love.
A study last year revealed that men in these particular pastel shades are not only likely to earn more money and have higher qualification than the average male, but also have a greater chance of attracting compliments from the fairer sex.
