How to tell your date what you really feel

Posted on: February 25, 2013 17:14:51

How to tell your date what you really feelFinding the right words when telling someone how you really feel is never easy, particularly when it comes to dating.

Get it right and you could end up winning over the heart of that special someone, but get it wrong, and you could end up being red-faced and alone.

So, before making the move, take a moment or two to consider exactly how you feel about them and what it would mean to you if they accepted the offer of going on a date.

Avoid corny chat up lines when letting them know how you feel, as it often can give the impression that what you're saying isn't genuine and is unlikely to sound as though it has come from the heart.

Instead, explain why you would love to go on a date with them and what first attracted you to them.

Take a moment to consider exactly what you are going to say, as no one likes someone who sounds shallow or thoughtless.

Remember, it is unlikely to go down well if you share the fact it was their large chest or expensive car that caught your attention, so instead mention their beautiful eyes or smile, which is much more likely to win them over.

Similarly, if you're hoping to let someone know you want to move the relationship a step further and make it official, then make sure you don't blow the opportunity by making a half-hearted effort to let them know how you feel.

Try to think of a few reasons why you want them to be your new partner and let them know just what made you realise they are the one for you.

In a recent study, which aimed to find the most romantic movie quotes, it was revealed that classic chat-up lines are favoured over more modern ways of sharing an individual's feelings.

According to Badoo, a line in the 1960s movie Charade was the most popular quote picked by women when approaching men.

The famous "I don't bite you know… unless it's called for," utterance by Audrey Hepburn to Cary Grant reached the number one spot in the survey, while other old favourites such as "Was that cannon fire, or is it my heart pounding" from Casablanca also made an appearance in the list of preferred pick-up lines.
