How to keep the romance alive

Posted on: February 8, 2013 13:39:24

How to keep the romance aliveIf you're struggling to hold down a relationship for more than a few months, then you might want to consider whether or not you are letting the romantic side of a relationship slip too early on in the dating process.

While it is reassuring to know that you feel comfortable enough to break wind in front of your loved one without wanting the whole world to swallow you up, sometimes an air of mystery - no matter how long you have been together - can keep the spark alive.

Although time is likely to make you closer, as you find out more about one another and develop together as a couple, it can also be an excuse to let some bad habits creep in and as a result, could lead to you taking your partner for granted.

So, when your time does come around to embark on a new relationship again, make sure you don't become too complacent and keep that flame going between the pair of you.

Cuddles on the sofa, remembering special occasions and of course saying 'I love you' before bed can do wonders in keeping a relationship strong.

Research by Co-operative Food suggested romance fades as early as three and a half years into a marriage.

Kate Jones from the company said that once the honeymoon period is over, many couples let bad habits take over and forget to go that extra mile to keep their loved one happy.

"We all know that it's the little things that make a big difference, so adding a bit of quality time, like reintroducing date nights or enjoying a meal in together, could be a good way to show you care."

Some of the biggest warning signs to look out for when dating in the future include not bothering with Valentine's Day, regularly slobbing around in tracksuits or pyjamas round the house and going to bed at different times, the research showed.
