How do you prepare for a first date?

Posted on: July 10, 2013 12:32:44

How do you prepare for a first date? There is no denying that making the final preparations to your outfit for a first date with a prospective new partner is exciting. The feeling of butterflies fluttering around in your tummy is something that some people will spend years trying to emulate with their husband or wife.

But for some unfortunate singles, their emotions before heading out of the door are not so much excitement, but more sheer terror, as hundreds of thoughts whir through their mind about how the evening will pan out.

Pure dread is not the best thing to feel ahead of meeting that special someone, so listed below are our top tips to avoiding pre-date anxiety.

Decisions, decisions...

You should select your outfit of choice several days before your date, alleviating the chance of any last-minute drama when your button breaks or a seam comes apart. And while most people look for something sexy to wow their potential partner, you should also ensure you are comfortable.

It's all well and good showing off your best assets in a tight, body-con dress or a dapper pair of trousers, but if you spend the entire evening feeling bloated and adjusting your outfit, your date could be put off.

Calm your nerves

While some people take part in meditation to relax, others are more likely to have a cheeky glass of wine to calm their nerves before leaving the house. But make sure you don't drink too much! A first date is likely to turn into a disaster if you are too intoxicated and you could end up doing something you regret.

Instead, get a group of friends round to your house while you get ready. Their words of encouragement are likely to be just the ticket to get you feeling cool and confident.

Don't be late!

Being fashionably late is perfectly acceptable to keep your date on their toes before you arrive at your chosen venue, but anywhere over 20 minutes is going too far. With the right preparation, you should be able to plan the right schedule perfectly before stepping outside.
