Household chores 'cause most rows for couples'Posted on: June 17, 2013 15:35:47
Emptying the kitchen bin, doing the ironing, loading the dishwasher and bleaching the bathroom are just some of the household chores that we all have to do, but it seems couples simply cannot find a compromise when it comes to delegating these tasks.
Research carried out by technology organisation Panasonic revealed carrying out jobs around the house causes the most rifts between men and women in relationships - and laundry was the single biggest catalyst for disputes.
While some pairs waste hours rowing over money, infidelity or social media, the majority seem to let this regular task stand in the way of their happy relationship.
Members of the fairer sex said their biggest bugbear was the fact they were the only one in their home to do the laundry on a regular basis, while cheeky blokes admitted they would try their best to avoid doing a fair share.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was the lazy attitude adopted by men that made their partners get even more riled up.
Some guys even confessed to purposely doing a bad job in their household chores to avoid having to do it again in the future.
The study's findings echoed those presented by research from household appliance manufacturer Indesit earlier this month, which revealed more than half of British men cannot work their washing machine.
In fact, some 35 per cent of women admitted their boyfriend is unable to take charge of the task, with those aged between 16 and 24 the most likely to avoid doing the washing.
Housework is an issue that blights British households whatever the time of year, with some women nagging their other halves to get things done. But the healthiest relationships can find a compromise that is suited to them in order to avoid bitter arguments.
Why not create a weekly rota of the tasks you hate doing the most, sharing the load with your other half so you can both work towards a happier and healthier romance?
