Facial hair biggest turn-off for men

Posted on: April 11, 2013 11:58:01

Facial hair biggest turn-off for menSingle women sporting facial hair has been identified as the biggest turn-off for male UK singles, with as many as 68 per cent of respondents in a survey claiming it is the ultimate no-no.

Meanwhile, girls' biggest passion killer is bad body odour, with 34 per cent of people admitting to doing a disappearing act on a first date after catching a whiff of their potential new partner, the MailOnline reports.

Speaking to 833 participants, Oxygen Media attempted to gain an insight into what singletons looked for in future dates.

The survey aimed to expose the change in dating trends over the years and unveil how singletons are finding love, what they look for in a partner and how far they are prepared to go on a first date.

Reassuringly, honesty was ranked as the most desirable trait, over an individual's appearance or scent.

When it came to where people turned for romance and relationship advice, it seemed that the internet was a firm favourite, an obvious difference from dating methods witnessed in previous decades, with over half admitting it is today their first port of call.

Searching for love online is also a popular option for unattached individuals, with 52 per cent of single men and women opting to turn to online dating rather than more traditional methods of finding romance.

The poll was commissioned to coincide with the premiere of Find Me My Man, a new dating programme.

Commenting on the findings, matchmaker Natalie Clarice said: "Dating as we know it has changed over the years but the challenges still remain."

Findings in the research also revealed that both men and women were happy to kiss on the lips on a first encounter, although men are more commonly keen to take things a step further.

According to the findings, 53 per cent said they are happy with heavy petting, while half said they believed there was nothing wrong with having sex on the first date.
