Does your date's smartphone indicate his personality?

Posted on: August 2, 2013 10:46:02

Does your dateBefore heading out on a date with a prospective new partner, singles are left constantly wondering what type of person they will be - and, more importantly, if they are compatible.

One good thing about online dating is that it gives individuals the chance to get to know each other before agreeing to meet up in real life, but what if there were something else that could give an indication of his or her traits?

Well according to researchers from TalkTalk, there is. And it is not what you might think.

Research commissioned by the telecoms company revealed your potential partner's choice of smartphone could give away snippets of their personality, as those who own a particular model tend to share certain characteristics.

According to the study, iPhone owners are more vain and concerned about their image than other brand users, while this type of consumer also rates themselves more attractive than people with other handsets.

Although vanity is something that most singles would usually avoid in a new partner, those singles who want to ensure their date looks their best at all times may not be too perturbed.

But what if you are looking for a special someone to show you a good time, who is likely to whisk you off to a romantic and exclusive destination at a moment's notice?

Then you may want to go for a BlackBerry user. The study's findings suggest that those with BlackBerry handsets earn more than their iPhone-using counterparts - with an extra £2,500 on average in their bank account.

However, this could mean your date is rather busy all the time, as this type of consumer also sends more messages and emails, as well as making more calls than their rival opposites.

Commenting on the findings, Dan Meader - director of mobile at TalkTalk - said: "Many of us have our mobile phones on us almost constantly so they do become an extension of us in many ways.

"It's interesting to see then how the choice in handset may reflect different aspects of personality and the results do reveal some quirky differences."ADNFCR-2828-ID-801620175-ADNFCR
