Decoding what men really mean

Posted on: January 24, 2013 16:51:07

Decoding what men really meanHave you met someone online that you like, but you're a little bit confused by the mixed messages he's sending?

Instead of just asking what he means, no doubt you're searching for double meanings or you've managed to convince yourself that he is up to something.

Of course, if you have been hurt in the past it is right to be wary, but sometimes UK singles can be guilty of over-analysing what people say.

What men are like and are looking for in a relationship is probably right in front of your eyes.

For example, if he specifies on his online dating page that he 'isn't looking for anything serious', then you have to respect that. He might change his mind if or when he stumbles across the one, but believing you can change him or viewing it as a personal challenge to change this might not always work in your favour.

When he is describing what he's like, look out for people who are just 'wanting a good time', or 'up for some fun', because while it could be as innocent as them simply looking for a fun-loving partner, it could be a more polite way of saying they actually are only interested in one thing.

Similarly, if you've been in touch with a special someone for a while and you are keen to meet up, but he hasn't yet been able to commit to a date, it might be worth asking yourself what that means.

While individuals have busy lifestyles, consistently failing to arrange a date or saying things like 'it is difficult at the moment' or 'it isn't the right time' could unfortunately suggest that he isn't ready for commitment or is unwilling to develop the relationship any further.

Remember, when relying on technology to speak to people, meanings and hidden messages can be lost or wrongly picked up. So if you're wondering what your potential new partner really means, sometimes it is worth picking up the phone.

Gut instincts are usually right, girls, so if you are suspicious that the relationship isn't going anywhere, or the person you are talking to is unlikely to want the same things as you, then perhaps it is time to move on and see who else is out there…
