Couples 'mull over rows in shower'Posted on: July 19, 2013 13:36:52
Even the happiest relationships have their ups and downs from time to time, but it seems every couple deals with problems that arise in many different ways.
From arguing to giving each other the silent treatment, people who are romantically involved respond to crises with their own personality in mind. But new research has found duos may actually have more in common than they anticipated.
According to new research from Triton Towers, men and women spend a few seconds every day mulling over a previous disagreement with their partner while in the shower, as their daily washing routine provides the perfect time for a spot of reflection.
Replaying marital arguments was among the most common pastimes for individuals in the shower, but certain other factors also came into play.
Researchers, who questioned 2,000 adults, found around 60 seconds of a daily wash was spent rehearsing an upcoming conversation with the boss, while others simply ponder over what they are going to have for lunch.
With the average Briton spending nine minutes and 22 seconds in the shower, it seems they take this time to consider their plans for the coming day. Some even take this short space of time to worry about money or relationship problems.
Commenting on the findings, Tina Simpson - marketing director at Triton Showers - said a quick wash gives adults a bit of time on their own, so it is only logical they take advantage of this.
She added: "It does tend to be the only part of the day where we are alone with our thoughts and this research reveals that many working adults use that time to plan their day ahead, run through conversations they intend to have and even rehearse presentations they intend to give."
Couples looking to spice things up in their relationship, while making up for a recent argument, could even surprise their partner with a shower for two.
