Brits' love lives are 'vanilla'

Posted on: March 18, 2013 13:18:55

BritsWhen it comes to intimate relations, it appears that we Brits are pretty tame.

Having wild and adventurous love lives might be what many UK singles dream of, but in reality, most couples rarely experience it.

In fact, things in the bedroom are pretty predictable, from the most popular day we like to have sex to even the kind of positions we prefer.

Hoping to find out just what goes on behind closed doors, carried out some research about a number of couples' bedroom habits.

"They're usually kept relatively quiet, so we wanted to really delve into what's happening between sheets around the nation and create the recipe for the perfect love life," Thomas O'Connell from the online pharmacy said.

However, the results were pretty surprising, suggesting that while romance might not be dead, it certainly wasn't getting pulses racing too much.

"It's all pretty vanilla to be honest," Mr O'Connell said. "We Britons clearly don't want an adventurous love life when it boils down to it, but just regular sex sessions where we feel comfortable."

Saturday was found to be the most popular evening to get down to business, with the majority of people preferring to keep their amorous encounters in the bedroom. Only 11 per cent of people said the bathroom is their favourite location to do it.

Unlike the films, where it appears no one suffers from bad breath in the morning, most people said they weren't interested in making love when they woke up, and certainly weren't up all night doing it.

Indeed, respondents in the poll said they would be satisfied with just 23 minutes of love making, before heading to the land of nod.

However, if you find things are getting a bit boring in the bedroom with your new partner, then whisking them away for a romantic getaway might add a bit of excitement.

According to a study last month by the US Travel Association, couples who go on holiday are more likely to experience a better love life.
