Britons 'prefer eating out to staying in'Posted on: July 5, 2013 11:42:22
The current economic climate has seen most families in the UK tighten their purse strings and reduce spending on luxury items.
And while this may suggest singles are favouring more low-key options for an evening with their new partner, the majority of Britons actually still prefer to go out for meals with their other half, rather than staying at home.
Research carried out by Zoosk and reported by Female First revealed one-third of people in a relationship have never had a delicious dinner cooked for them by their boyfriend or girlfriend.
The news could come as a surprise to thousands of foodies across the country, who regularly impress their romantic partner with a wide range of culinary masterpieces.
Researchers found that although 82 per cent of men have occasionally cooked a romantic meal for their girlfriend, they often fail to try anything exciting in the kitchen - preferring to prepare the same "signature" dish time and time again.
However, when asked if they would eat anything their other half cooked for them, some 59 per cent of Britons said they are open to trying new things. So why not get your hands dirty in the kitchen and create a romantic setting for your low-key date night?
Jane Barrett, director of marketing and communications at Zoosk, said: "We hope our survey results encourage more people to experiment with their dishes when inviting a date over for dinner.
"When it comes to wooing a potential partner, however you choose to do it, food can certainly be a guaranteed way to impress."
As the old saying goes, the way to a man's heart is definitely through his stomach. So flirty women should bear this in mind when rustling something up for their boyfriend. A delicious Thai or Indian curry could be a great way to show off your skills in the kitchen.
