Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Posted on: December 12, 2013 17:29:20

Beauty is in the eye of the beholderA new survey proves the old saying is true - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Men and women were both asked to create the 'perfect face' and the results show there is a stark contrast between what the two genders believe to be beautiful.

Each group was given the facial features of glamorous actresses, singers and models in order to build their ideal woman from some of the most beautiful women in the world.

Men favoured blonde hair, full lips, strong cheekbones but also a petite nose, less prominent forehead and finer eyebrows. In contrast, women selected dark hair, a more pronounced nose and forehead, strong eyebrows and a thinner bone structure.

The male participants judged Shakira's blonde hair, Miranda Kerr's button nose, the forehead of Jennifer Aniston, the Duchess of Cambridge's pronounced eyebrows and Angelina Jolie's cheekbones and full lips as the best for their 'perfect face'.

However, women chose completely different features. Females in the study selected Freida Pinto's glossy black hair, Keira Knightley's refined cheekbones, Cara Delevingne's bushy eyebrows, Blake Lively's strong nose and Scarlett Johansson's pout to create their ideal face.

.A spokesperson for escentual.com, who commissioned the survey,  said the two pictures demonstrate that men and women have very different ideals when it comes to creating the perfect female face.

"Interestingly, the faces are made up of a mix of different ages - 38-year-old Angelina Jolie was men's preferred choice for cheekbones and pout while 21-year-old Cara Delevingne was the women's top choice for eyebrows," said the spokesperson.

The study shows there really is no cookie-cutter idea of beautiful and it really does depend on someone's personal opinion. This is why it's important when you are dating to meet and connect with as many new people as you can to give you the best opportunity to find your perfect other half - in looks and personality.

If you are looking for a new partner, online dating can allow you to connect with hundreds of beautiful men and women to find one that suits your tastes.ADNFCR-2828-ID-801671961-ADNFCR
