A third of women 'disappointed' by proposalPosted on: October 14, 2013 13:12:37
Many women spend their entire lives dreaming about being proposed to by their ideal man.
Not only do they fantasise about the guy who is doing the asking, but also the type of ring he will present to her, as well as the setting that will provide the backdrop to the most important question she will ever be asked.
It is hardly surprising then that many females end up feeling rather disappointed when the proposal becomes a reality.
No matter how much effort their partner put into finding the perfect setting to utter those four special words, a third of women are secretly unhappy with the way their other half popped the question.
Research carried out by Hot Pink, which was published in the Daily Mail, revealed the ideal setting would have be a sentimental location that holds fond memories for the couple.
On the other hand, 26 per cent of women said they would have liked more romance involved in their proposal, while many said they were half expecting their partner to get down on bended knee anyway.
Proving we are a nation of picky brides, researchers found more than a quarter of the 2,000 adults questioned were disappointed with their partner's choice and would upgrade if given the chance.
Others said they would have preferred a larger rock, while some claimed a different band shape would have been ideal.
The findings are likely to put uninspired men under even more pressure when it comes to wooing their future bride before popping the question.
Commenting on the findings, Manu Bhardwaj - founder of Hot Pink - said: "It appears that old age traditions of getting on one knee and asking your loved ones parents for permission are becoming a thing of the past.
"While there is no doubt that how your loved one proposes and the ring they give you doesn't define a marriage, it's still an important process and one you want to get right."
